It’s October already!

And that means the Fall Concert is next month! Please plan your weekly practice so you’re keeping up with rehearsals. The rehearsal plan is posted on the Rehearsal This Week page.

Tomorrow, please remember to bring (checks payable to WSW or exact amount cash):

  • Payments for the 2011-2012 Season Compilation CD’s ($30 for each 2-disc set). We decided to increase our order quantity because of pre-order sales! If you did not pre-order, it is likely we still have a CD set for you.
  • Season dues – $100.00. Remember that our dues are our main dependable financial resource.
  • If you have ads, please bring the ad forms and payments in sooner than later. All ads must be submitted with completed ad forms and payments. Yes, the ad form is important — it’s the only way I have to accurately keep track of all the submissions. Without a hard copy of each ad form, it’s likely that I will miss someone’s ad.
Thank you to Matt, Jim, and the volunteers who have been making phone calls to “pound the pavement” for new ads. It’s making a difference!
See you tomorrow evening!

Rehearsal plan for 9/24

Our second rehearsal of the cycle will start with the Gulino fanfare (brass and percussion only). If you are not involved in that piece, plan on arriving by 7:45 pm.

The remainder of the rehearsal plan is posted on the Rehearsal This Week page.

See you Monday!

First rehearsal is next Monday!

First — Thank you to Marge & Bill Hone for hosting our Kick-Off Party last Tuesday. We had about 25 members and spouses attend, and it was a great evening. It’s safe to say that everyone attending found the 2011-2012 recordings to be top quality. Be sure to speak to Marge on Monday if you did not already order your copy of last year’s concert compilation.

I can’t wait for our first rehearsal next Monday! I have a spent a great deal of time putting together an interesting and challenging program for our 25th anniversary year, with world-class guest conductors and thrilling soloists. It’s going to be an outstanding season — and I’m so glad you’re going to be part of it!

I had almost no feedback or reactions to the announcement about the change of dress rehearsal date from October 31 to Saturday, November 3, 1:00-4:00 pm. This means either: a) Very few conflicts or adverse effects, or b) Very few people read the announcement. I’m hoping that it was the former, not the latter!

Please click here to see the rehearsal order for Monday. I’ll see you then.

Dress rehearsal change

Fall Concert Dress Rehearsal Date Change

Unfortunately, we must announce a change in the dress rehearsal date for the Fall Concert. TMH has accepted a booking for our original date of Wednesday, October 31, and informed us as such. Thursday, November 1 is already booked at TMH. Tuesday, October 30 gives us no positive dress rehearsal reinforcement, as it’s one day after our regular Monday rehearsal, and five days away from the concert. And it’s not possible to simply use the Monday night rehearsal as the dress, as we already have only 7 rehearsals in this cycle.

Considering all our options, the Board has backed my decision to move the Fall Concert dress rehearsal to the only slot possible with TMH — Saturday, November 3, 1:00-4:00 pm. We recognize this is not ideal, but I am asking everyone to do everything possible to help us make this work with minimal collateral damage. Please take a hard look at that afternoon, and “clear the decks” if at all possible. It’s not ideal for me either, but I will make it work so we can make this happen together. We will not ask anyone to refrain from playing the concert for missing this dress rehearsal, but for the benefit of our best performance possible, I am asking you to please do what you can to help us make this work. This is the best we can do in the wake of a booking that was out of our hands.
