Rehearsal This Week

Our new rehearsal space:
The All-Purpose Room (APR)
Lower School Building, Hackley School

  • Please bring a music stand — it can be the WSW property stand, or a personal foldable stand, whichever is most comfortable for you.
  • Our own WSW Wenger chairs were moved to the APR and we’ll be using them.
  • The school is located at 293 Benedict Avenue, Tarrytown, NY 10591. Pull in the school entrance as you did on June 22, drive up the hill past the PAC parking lot, and take the left fork. Drive past the Allen Center and up the hill, continuing around the bend. The Lower School will be the next building on your right. Parking is directly across the road from the building.
  • Enter via the center door beneath the underhang.
  • Go to the right and up the stairs to the APR.
  • Please do not use the elevator, as the percussionists will be moving all their equipment up from the basements in the elevator.

Rehearsal plan – June 29 at 7:30 pm

  • 7:30 pm – arr. Williams / SSB
  • 7:50 pm – Green / WSW American Overture
  • 8:20 pm – Ticheli / An American Elegy
  • 8:40 pm – Stretch
  • 8:45 pm – Vocal numbers / beginnings and endings only

  • 9:25 pm – Sousa / White Rose and Stars & Stripes

Rehearsal plan – July 1 at 7:30 pm (dress rehearsal)

There is no intermission at Caramoor, so we need to dress rehearse the program without a break. I’ve padded these times a bit to allow for mini-breaks throughout the rehearsal.

  • 7:30 pm – arr. Williams / SSB
  • 7:45 pm – arr. Green / WSW American Overture
  • 8:05 pm – Sousa / White Rose
  • 8:20 pm – Ticheli / Elegy (Jessica conducting)
  • 8:40 pm – Vocal numbers with MaryKay:
    • The House I Live In
    • Over the Rainbow
    • God Bless America
  • 9:10 pm – Tchaikovsky / 1812
  • 9:30 pm – Sousa / Stars & Stripes

Caramoor Performance

  • 3:45 pm – Arrival/attendance on stage. Park in Lot E. If you need to leave the grounds after the performance before the fireworks begin, you must inform the parking lot attendant on arrival, and park in Lot Z, as close as possible to the exit. Leave cases/change of clothes in the mens’ and women’s dressing rooms back stage.
  • 4:00 pm – Sound check in the Venetian theater
  • 5:45 pm – Handbell ringers rehearsal
  • 6:00 pm – Dinner provided for performers/crew only
  • 8:00 pm – Performance. Following the performance, you are welcome to sit, relax, and debrief with band members, family, and friends at the tables/chairs along Pavilion Plaza, the area between the Venetian Theater and Lot E.

LIBRARY/VERY IMPORTANT: We will continue to maintain an all-digital library in 2025-2026. All performing members and subs are responsible to download/print (or download to a iPad or similar device) and bring these parts to all rehearsals. Hard copies of parts will not be distributed. See my August 31 post regarding the two ForScore clinics we are offering to help acclimate new iPad users.

For reference only – rehearsal sites

New Rochelle High School, New Rochelle:
Click here for directions. GPS: Use 11 Braemer Avenue, New Rochelle.

Knights of Columbus:
327 Westchester Ave, Port Chester, NY 10573
There is no parking lot, but you can find street parking within a block or so. We typically rehearse on the lower level, which can be accessed directly from the side street, Exchange Place.

Irvington Presbyterian Church:
25 North Broadway, Irvington, NY  10533
There is parking in the circle in front of the church and in the lot along the side. Brass meet in the Parlor in the main building (use the side door) and Woodwinds meet in the annex building behind the main building. For more information, click here.

White Plains High School, 550 North Street, White Plains:
See map below. Use 550 North Street as GPS address. Cross street is Bryant Avenue, which has an exit directly off I-287. Although the address is North Street, it is easier to use the parking lot from the Bryant Avenue entrance because of one-way lanes on campus.
Enter from Bryant, then take the first right into the large parking lot. You’ll see the auditorium at the southeast corner of the parking lot. Depending on the weather, there may be a door propped open leading directly into the Auditorium from the parking lot; if not, use the double doors to the right, and walk around to your left.
