Spring concert flyers!

Our Spring Concert flyers are ready for download, including versions for print and sharing online:

I’ll write later in the week to announce the rehearsal plan for Monday. Note that we will be rehearsing the Bernstein with Shelley Axelson as well as the Bach and Ticheli (with whirlies and wine glasses).

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday week.

“Leggo My Eggo”

Well, that’s a lot easier to remember than “Ego sum abbas,” movement 8 of Carmina Burana. Our baritone soloist, Erich Tusch, will be joining us this week to rehearse his solo movement. The rest of the rehearsal plan is posted.

Thanks for a great rehearsal last week. I know I pushed you hard, but it’s just necessary at this point. Be prepared for the same kind of rehearsal — intense and productive —  this week!

See you Monday

PS – I apologize if you got 5 or 6 emails for this post. I was blogging from a remote Starbucks location and the Wi-fi was acting strangely. .

Back to work!

Access to TMH this Monday is limited again; we can only enter the hall at 7:30 pm. The last time it seemed to be available by 7:20 pm, so maybe we’ll be lucky again. In any case, I’d like to be able to rehearse until 10:00 pm to make up the lost time, so please plan ahead. If you need to leave at 9:45 pm for a train, I understand; please don’t hesitate.

We’ll concentrate on the first half of the program again this week, including Bach, Ticheli, and Bernstein. As always, the weekly rehearsal plan is updated here.

I hope you’ve used the week off to attend to some added practice and attention to your parts! It’s not too late to schedule a co-practice session with a buddy or even a sectional. Time to go back to work!

Focus on Orff & Bernstein this week

Thanks for a great rehearsal last Monday night. I’ve been listening to the recordings, and passed the Bernstein recording on to Shelley so she has an idea of where we’re starting with that piece.

This Monday we’ll concentrate on the 13 movements of Carmina Burana. Daniella will return to sing her two solo movements. (Our baritone soloist, Erich Tusch, will be coming on April 7 for the first time.) In the latter part of this Monday’s rehearsal, we’ll focus on a couple sections of the Bernstein that are the most “at risk” at this point.

Thanks go out to the 40+ members who brought signed photo release forms last week. If you didn’t, please download a copy here, print, sign, and bring with you on Monday.

Riser update: The risers are ordered and will be delivered in plenty of time for our May concert! We’re grateful to the donors who contributed specifically for this project (I’ll wait to acknowledge them to make sure I include everyone.) I specifically want to acknowledge and thank Jen Scopaz’s father, John Scopaz, who built the prototype last season for us to inspect and evaluate. That prototype was an important step in this process.

Remember that we have access to TMH only at 7:30 pm because of another group in the hall before us (same for March 31). Please arrive at 7:30 pm and be ready to set up quickly.

We have a great start. Invest in the momentum!
