Spring cycle begins MONDAY evening!

Ready to roll!

I sent a version of this post that said “tomorrow evening.” Apologies – I keep thinking today is Sunday for some reason. The rehearsal is definitely Monday evening!

OK, so we are finally (almost) ready to roll Monday at TMH starting at 7:30 pm. We’ll be reading the entire Spring Concert program. Find the rehearsal plan here.

Viet delivered the final version of the score for our commissioned work, titled The Man and the Echo this morning. He has promised to send the parts by noon tomorrow, and I will post them immediately. Please check back here in the Spring Concert rep folder after noon tomorrow to download the concert finale. (All of the other pieces are there too.)

Be sure to download/save or download/print all these parts and bring them tomorrow evening for our first rehearsal:

  • Creston – Celebration Overture
  • Markowski – All My Heart
  • Navarro – II Concerto for Clarinet
  • Cuong – The Man and the Echo (parts will be uploaded by noon tomorrow, 3/2)

The Clarinet Choir parts will be assigned and links sent out to all those players after Monday. (I can only handle one thing at a time, contrary to popular opinion.) We have 32 clarinetists registered as of now, so I believe this will be another historic specialty ensemble performance!

Kristen Mather de Andrade concert at Chappaqua

Kristen Mather, principal clarinet of the West Point Band, and dear friend of WSW, is presenting a concert of Brazilian music on Sunday, March 30 at 3:00 pm in the Chappaqua Library Theater. Click the QR code for more information, or visit kristenmather.com.

Commission update and schedule change

Spring Concert parts are posted

First, all but one work’s parts have been posted. Find the folder here. You will also find the link on this site’s home page.

Unfortunately, Viet was not able to complete the commissioned work in time for the original deadline, February 15. Instead, we renegotiated delivery of the score and parts by the end of this week. As soon as I receive them, I will add them to the appropriate folder, and you can download those parts via the same link above.

Rehearsal schedule change

Because of the delay in the delivery of the commission parts, and in order to save the extra costs of renting the New Rochelle Band Room, I’ve cancelled the rehearsal on February 24.

Instead, the read-through rehearsal will take place on Monday, March 3 at TMH, followed by by sectionals at Irvington Presbyterian Church (WW and Brass) and TMH (Percussion) on Monday, March 10.

This will allow us to maintain our pattern of bookending the complete program on the first/last rehearsals of the cycle, along with sectionals on the second week.

More details

Further details will be sent ahead of the rescheduled first rehearsal on March 3.

Congratulations!

Kudos!

Congratulations on a very fine performance last Sunday! Not even the weather could prevent us from sharing our best music making. The audience turnout was great, we found a great lighting plot (which will be saved for future concerts), and our guest artists – Lt. Col Toven, Mimi, and Barton – added joy and thrills to the program.

Spring cycle

I’m working on getting the Google Drive folders ready with all the new music. As soon as they are ready, including the new Viet Cuong piece, I’ll alert you and post the Spring folder so you can download and look over the music.

Our next rehearsal is Monday, February 24 at New Rochelle High School, as TMH is not available that evening. Check the home page for the directions to NRHS and the rehearsal plan for that night. The Spring music folder will be posted on the home page as well when ready.

Looking for a Press Release Coordinator

For the past several years, we had a volunteer from outside our organization who distributed our press releases before each concert. We now need to find a new coordinator. If you (or your spouse) have a working knowledge of Google Docs and Gmail, we could use your help. Contact Curt or Rebecca for more information.

Thank you all again for an excellent performance last Sunday!
