Final rehearsal for 2011!

In 2011, WSW performed 3 concerts at Tarrytown Music Hall, performed on the benefit concert for Music in the Yonkers Public Schools, played a clinic for Dr. Mallory Thompson and Dr. John Lynch, and earned our first invitation to a national convention. We added outstanding new players to our roster, including our new Assistant Conductor, Matt Kowalski. In addition, we received a $1000.00 donation from Community Mutual Savings Bank, and added two new endowed chairs to our roster. It’s been a great year!

So, we’re down to the final rehearsal. Be sure to check the rehearsal plan for Monday, December 5. Our guest soloist, Kyung Hee Kim, will be joining us for our first rehearsal with her for Puccini’s Un bel di, and our guest conductor, Dr. Shelley Axelson, will also be with us to rehearse the Grainger Children’s March.

I’m looking forward to our final rehearsal of the calendar year! See you tomorrow night at 7:30 pm at TMH.

Only two rehearsals left in 2011!

Because TMH cancelled our December 12 rehearsal, we have only 2 rehearsals remaining for the 2011 calendar year. Please check the Rehearsal this Week page for the plan for both rehearsals.

Both weeks, we rehearse at our regular time, 7:30-9:45 pm.

Let’s make these two rehearsals count! See you tomorrow.

Mallory Thompson and the Northshore Concert Band are registered in a race sponsored by Chase Bank to win $25,000.00. They need to be in the top 100 Facebook users who “like” them in this Chase promotion. Currently, they are in 81st place!

YOU could star in The Wedding Singer at NVOT!

For the first time ever, we are recruiting adults for the cast of our 2012 All-School Musical production. This year’s show, The Wedding Singer, requires a grandmother and a grandfather, and we have decided to cast “real” grandparents, instead of students! So if you or someone you know have ever had the acting bug, or have attended our shows and thought “I could do that!” — well, here is your chance!

You are cordially invited to be a part of NVOT’s award-winning, sold-out musical tradition. This march, NVOT proudly presents it’s 49th All-School Musical Production, The Wedding Singer. The joyous, Tony-nominated musical is based on the hit Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore movie about a wedding singer who falls for an engaged waitress in 1985 New Jersey!
NVOT will be holding auditions for two senior citizens to play the roles of The Wedding Singer’s Grandparents. Both of these supporting roles will highlight the performer’s singing, dancing and comedic talents. Candidates interested in auditioning for ROSIE, the wedding singer’s grandmother, should prepare 32 measures of any song and will be asked to perform a scene from the show. Candidates for ARNOLD, Rosie’s husband of 50 years, should prepare 32 measures of any song and will be asked to perform a scene as Ronald Reagan.
AUDITIONS will be held on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2011. Performances will be held on March 4, 5, 6, 2012.
