Here we go!

This is it! The concert is this Saturday! We have only our regular Monday rehearsal tomorrow and the dress rehearsal on Wednesday. Lois, Tom, and Barbara are all on deck tomorrow and Wednesday, and Mallory will rehearse with us on Saturday evening at the sound check.

Please arrive in plenty of time at each rehearsal. Please plan to allow rehearsal on Wednesday until 10:00 pm if needed. See you tomorrow.

Two weeks til 25!

With only two weeks to go until our 25th anniversary, we’re coming down to the wire. Check the revised rehearsal schedule for tomorrow night. Tom McCauley is coming to conduct the LoPresti. We will also be having our last rehearsal on the Ticheli until we meet with Mallory Thompson on May 31.

I will be bringing hard copies of the personnel list for the program to pass out among the sections. Please check the listing and initial by your name to approve, or add/edit any missing or incomplete information.

See you tomorrow night!

You are inspiring!

Jongho Lee - In RehearsalJongho Lee, my NVOT baritone sax player who attended our rehearsal on Monday, stayed until the end of the rehearsal with tenor sax player, Jake Hess. They sat in the front of the balcony, and Jongho sketched throughout the remainder of rehearsal. He was incredibly inspired by what he heard. This is the result, and I think it’s wonderful. Congratulations to Travis Cross

Travis_CrossI’m thrilled to announce that our friend, Travis Cross, who was our guest conductor in March, 2011 and composed Let the Amen Sound, which we performed this past November in memory of Bob Wanninger, has accepted the position of WInd Ensemble Director at the Herb Albert School of Music at UCLA! He is sad to be leaving Virginia Tech, but this is a tremendous step for him. We know Travis as a gifted conductor, teacher, and composer. Please join me in congratulating him!
